Hey there! I started Life as a Disaster because I write constantly about architecture, design, disasters, climate change, and design futurism. Invariably, most of it remains in draft form on my laptop or scribbled in a notebook somewhere, while I inevitably tell myself that I’ll reach out to some publisher tomorrow. Tomorrow always brings some new development in the world that I intend to fold into my magnum opus, and thus turns tomorrow into the day after tomorrow, and so forth. I realized that I was sitting on over 1,000,000 words of unpublished content, written over the last decade, and decided to share it with y’all.1
I don’t have a publishing schedule, unless noted, but by subscribing, you’ll get instant access to all new content. You’ll also get access to the subscriber chat, which I’ll be moderating,
I’ll continue to archive any old media published content on my website, so if something comes out in a magazine or book you’ll find it there, but I’ll also link to it here.
I’m hoping that this format gives me the opportunity to write in a more timely manner, on events happening now and in the near future, and help our field stay current on fast-moving developments in architecture, the climate, technology, and why the future is brighter than you think.
As an additional bonus to subscribers, if there’s any topic you’d like to see me tackle, please reach out through the subscriber chat and let’s get a conversation going. If you think you know someone who might be interested, please share it with them, as well.
I’m not publishing all 1,000,000+ words at once, don’t worry. I’ll realize articles as they’re warranted by current events.
